Dear Dr. Towery,

I hope that you realize the difference that you have made in so many lives.  I will always be grateful for you giving me back my life which I felt that I would never have again.  As you know I am a Physical Therapist who has had major problems with major back pain as well as impaired sensory intervention to the lower extremities.  After going to various doctors and having an MRI of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, I was finally diagnosed with Severe Spinal Stenosis of the thoracic spine with a paracentral disk herniation and cord deformity at T11-12.  Plus I also have Spinal Stenosis in the cervical spine and the lumbar spine.  I was referred to a Neurosurgeon who felt that my condition was to a degree that surgery was indicated .  I was limited to not being able to lift anything that weighed more than 10 lbs.  This limitation in itself is a major limitation for a Physical Therapist; however I realized how much just lifting would aggravate my condition.  I have been used to lifting and hard work most of my life and when such limitations were put on me, my entire life changed and I slowly was trying to live with these limitations.

I then read an article in the Victoria Advocate where you talked about treating patients with Spinal Stenosis with Acupuncture.  I felt it was well worth a try.  I attended a lecture that you gave a Super Body Works which you had discussed the importance of a good diet, proper exercise and the advantages of acupuncture.  I was the very fortunate person to have won the door prize to your diet program.  I set up an appointment to talk with you about receiving acupuncture for my  spinal stenosis.

I have been seeing you for a month now and I have learned that my vertebrae were out of alignment which is more than likely what caused the stenosis or at least aggravated it.  You were able to address this problem with simple spinal manipulation which has decreased the degree of pain considerably and has allowed me to finally go without having to wear a major back support which I have been wearing for over a year.

You began acupuncture to help me lose an excessive degree of weight which was putting more stress to the spine. You gradually got me onto an exercise program that has helped considerably and I am now doing exercised that I have been unable to do during the past two years due to the spinal stenosis.  Plus you have made me become aware of just how important a proper diet is.  The saying “You are what you eat” is really true.  For I have been on your diet for over three weeks now and it has made such a difference.

So....Thanks for all the help that you have given me as listed above.  It has resulted in you giving me my life back and in a way that I feel so much better.  I cannot remember just how long it has been that I have felt this good.  I may still have spinal stenosis and may have it the rest of my life, but it is now just a small part of my life and it no longer has total control over it like it did up until you properly treated my condition.

My Son’s story:

Please bear with me awhile.....Earlier this year, my son (who was diagnosed with MS 28 years ago and at this time is total care), was sleeping almost all the time.  It was literally impossible to get adequate nutrition and hydration into his wasting body.  We are all aware of where we were heading without a major change.  After his primary care physician canceled 5 appointments, I knew something had to be done.  His neurologist, Dr. Sawyers had exhausted what he could do.  Ben had become unable to even move his head.  I think due to extreme weakness.  Last year we had been to Warm Springs, but that didn’t seem to make a difference in him.  He was continuing to sleep more and more deeply.  I heard about 2 doctors....Dr. Layne Towery, chiropractor and acupuncturist, and Dr.Rolando Arafiles.  I made appointments and took Ben.  Dr. Towery said he had never worked on anyone like Ben before, but would give it his best shot.  Within 6 weeks, Ben could move his neck. 

Dr. Arafiles said that he didn’t know what to do but he would do his best.   Within a couple of visits, Dr. Arafiles readily recognized that Ben was not getting adequate nutrition nor hydration.  He started him on a few supplements and other life saving measures and within a very short time, my son was staying awake more and more.  Until, today he is taking short naps in the day time and his sense of humor came back, (I had not noticed that he no longer had a sense of humor until it returned).  He started painting again with even greater creativity than before.  The changes are too many to put down here.

DO I CREDIT HIS NEW FOUND LIFE TO DR. ARAFILES AND DR. TOWERY?

Hi!  My name is Betty Monse, I live in Victoria and have a lot of friends.  Those of you who know me, know that the last 15 years of my life has been “a living HELL”.  I’ve had 5 major back surgeries and have seen over 15 doctors and/or pain specialist.  I’ve had every test known to man and have taken pain pill on the planet to include Lortab, Demerol, Morphine, Oxycontin, and until seeing Dr. Towery, was giving myself 3-4 injections daily of Nubain for pain.  I WAS SLOWLY GETTING WORSE!  All my friends at Faith Family Church have been praying for me.  I too prayed for somebody to help me, but because of my pain I couldn’t sit in church for the whole service.  One day I read this article and decided this was the doctor to see.  I have had 10ACUPUNCTURE SESSIONS, I’m off all pain medications including the injections.  I can now walk much better and use my cane mainly for balance.  This has truly been a miracle!  If Dr. Towery can help me with my pain, think what he can do for you!  I strongly encourage anyone that has a pain condition or weight problem to give ACUPUNCTURE A TRY!

I have suffered from headaches all my life. In my younger years I was able to take over the counter drugs which helped but did not elevate the cause. As I grew older, I could no longer tolerate any kind of drugs by mouth because of a digestive problem.  Allergy shots helped but did not eliminate the headaches completely. Last year I started having headaches that were intolerable. I suffered with them for weeks and went to doctor after doctor for help. The headaches became so bad that early one Sunday morning, after having been up all night, I went to ER and was given a shot that knocked me out for hours. The doctor sent me home with some very powerful drugs that I tried to take but again, my digestive system would not tolerate the medication. I never felt so helpless in my life. As a last resort I went to Dr. Towery for acupuncture. Within a week my headaches were completely gone. I have spoken with many patients at Dr. Towery's office and most of them came because the conventional doctors were unable to help them. Someone told me the the American Medical Association does not recognize Acupuncture. This does not surprise me...hypnosis was know back in the time of Queen Bess and AMA did not accept it until nineteen-fifty-four.

I had been diagnosed with a rare condition called Transverse Myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord. Some of my nerve cells had been damaged. I had chronic back pain and muscle weakness along with problems doing ordinary tasks around the house. I had a severe tightness and a feeling of a tight band around my mid back. I was in misery. I had been on variety of medications and had seen multiple doctors. I had heard about acupuncture and all the things it can help. I had been reading Dr. Towery’s articles for months and decided he was the one to try. He told me he had never heard of my condition much less ever treated anyone with it. He said he would do the best he could. Within a matter of weeks I was getting relief and have continued to improve. My back pain is much better and I ‘m getting feeling and control back into my feet. If you have a problem that hasn’t responded to the typical medical approach please try acupuncture and/or chiropractic. It’s working for me an! d it will work for you.

My name is Judi Sanchez. I’m a middle aged housewife who had experienced neck, shoulder, mid back, low back, and intense left leg pain for over 10 years. I had chronic headaches, cramps and spasms along with arthritis. I heard about Dr. Towery from a variety of friend who had gotten good results with his treatments. I’ve read his article every Saturday in the Victoria Advocate (for years). I finally talked to my husband and he said give it a try. On my first visit he examined me and said he thought he could help but to be patient. He suggested me purchase one of his "miracle lamps" for home use along with being fitted for some special foot orthotics for my constant pain in the feet. After only 6-7 visits I was feeling wonderful. My chronic leg pain is dramatically improved along with my fibromyalgia symptoms. I use the lamp frequently and have recently started wearing my shoe orthotics. I have been very pleased with the results that I’m getting and have no problem referring family and friends for the "ultimate treatment". What do you got to lose ....besides your pain!

I was desperate ... I had neck and shoulder pain for well over 5 years. I was also experiencing some intense heel pain which was so bad that it made me limp. I had visited a local orthopedist who gave me pain pills and cortisone injections. I was sent for extensive physical therapy with no results. I had seen a chiropractor in the past who helped me , so I decided I’d give Dr. Towery who not only is a chiropractor but also an acupuncturist a try. He immediately told me that I had some mis-aligned vertebrae and a rib that was out of place. He told me heel pain was from my back (I thought he was crazy). He started treatments with me and within 3-4 visits I felt like a new person. I was back to my old self again. Bending, twisting, and doing the usual house work. He had me doing great when I was broadsided by a hit and run. I once again returned to Dr. Towery and started aggressive acupuncture and chiropractic treatments. Within a couple of weeks I was feeling much better an! d now continue on a weekly schedule until I’m back to normal. For those of you who are skeptical, trust me. What he does works.

Here’s my story....

I’m a 48 year old female who had experienced neck and severe arm pain for over 5 years. I had been to 7 different doctors and had a variety of tests including MRI’s. I was prescribed a multitude of pain pills and muscle relaxers along with injections for pain. I had also undergone extensive physical therapy, slings, neck braces, and spent literally thousands of dollars with no relief. I finally got to where I couldn’t even raise my arm to write a check. I was a walking cripple.

Leon Zapata told me about Dr. Towery and all the things that he had helped him with. I decided to give it one last shot. Dr. Towery consulted with me and examined my condition. He immediately said I had a pinched nerve in both my shoulder and neck. In less than 2 weeks with his chiropractic manipulation and acupuncture treatments my pain was 50% better and my motion was dramatically improved. That was about 8 months ago. I have had approximately 25 treatments. I now have little or no pain and when I do something with my arm that aggravates it, I whip into Dr. Towery’s office and 1-2 treatments I’m as good as new. I would highly recommend anyone to try his ultimate treatments. He has done wonders for me.

To whom it may concern:

On February 18, 2001 I slipped and fell in a restaurant and broke my pelvis in tow places. I spent four weeks in a hospital flat on my back. I then spent 20 days in a convalescent home having rehabilitative care.

After being released I went home, still in excruciating pain. I was taking prescription Tylenol with codeine. My pain was still terrible. My medical doctor was unable to do anything to stop the pain. My regular DC also was having limited success. One of my sons insisted that I try Dr. Layne Towery D.C., a doctor of chiropractic, who also practices acupuncture.

Dr. Towery told me that in the fall and healing of my pelvis my spine had become severely twisted and was pinching some nerves. The first week that I went to Dr. Towery’s clinic I received acupuncture treatments and spinal adjustments on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I could feel pain relief the first day. The second week I again had both procedures 3 times. After the third week I received both procedures twice a week. After about 6 weeks I had both procedures once a week.

Again...let me state that I received great pain relief the first week that I began receiving acupuncture. Before going to Dr. Towery’s clinic, my pain, to put it simply, was unbearable. I simply cannot express enough how thankful I am that I learned about the benefits of acupuncture and Dr. G. Layne Towery.
