Black Cohosh has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine in the
United States. Used for hundreds of years by Native Americans, Black Cohosh
was introduced into U.S. medical practice in 1823. The root was listed in
the U.S. Pharmacopoeia from 1820 - 1926.
The action of Black Cohosh in the body is thought to be due to the
synergistic actions of two sets of key constituents-triterpene glysocides
and isoflavones. Femi-Norm is standardized to guarantee high levels of the
triterpene glycosides such as actein and cimicifugoside. The product also
contains important isoflavone formononetin.
Ingredients - one caplet provides
Black Cohosh Extract (Cimifuga racemosa) 20 mg Standardized to 3.1%
Triterpene glycosides (calculated as 27-Deoxyactein)
Recommended Use - Take on to two
caplets of Femi Norm in the morning and evening. NSCA also recommends the
use of Osteo Norm Tm for nutritional support of bone health during
menopause.
Contraindications, adverse reactions or interactions.
Used at the recommended dose above, side effects with Femi Norm are rare.
Some women may experience mild gastrointestinal upset while taking this
product. Very high doses of Femi Norm can result in dizziness. Headaches.
Nausea, and vomiting. Femi Norm is not recommended for pregnant of lactating
women or for use concomitantly with hormone replacement therapy.
