Product Description

Enteri-Norm™ is formulated with the highest  quality USP-grade peppermint oil available in the United States. This peppermint oil is high in menthol, menthone, and menthyl acetate, the volatile oil constituents that are thought to deliver the relaxing effect in the intestinal tract. * Using the dose of peppermint oil shown to be effective in European scientific studies, Enteri-Norm™ is supplied in an enteric-coated capsule to insure effective delivery of the active oil.

Each Enteric-coated capsule is 187 mg of peppermint oil.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has been used for centuries in both eastern and western herbal traditions. It is commonly classified as a carminative herb and is used to support normal digestion and the gastointestinal tract. A common cooking spice, its flavoring is also used in many confectionary products.

Peppermint's actions are attributed to the volatile oil content (0.3 to 0.4%) in the plant. The volatile primarily consists of menthol (29 to 48%), menthone (20 to 31%), and methyl acetate (3 to 10%), along with the smaller quantities of mentho-furan (1 to 7%) and limonene (3 to 10%)

Modern scientific studies have successfully shown the ability of peppermint oil to relax gastrointestinal smooth muscle and promote normal tone in the intestinal tract.* Pharmoacokinetic studies have proven that enteric-coated peppermint oil is excreted more slowly than non-coated oil. This allows for a longer duration of action in the intestinal tract.* Enteric coating also allows for a more focused delivery of peppermint oil to the distal small intestine and colon without concerns for breakdown in the acidic environment of the stomach.* Enteric-coated peppermint oil products are widely recommended by health care professionals in both Canada and Great Britain for the support of normal muscle tone in the intestinal tract.*
